Competition Youth
coaching
Remote and In Person
I have been coaching competition youth athletes for a decade alongside 13 years of climbing, countless climbing courses and a Bachelors in Sport Science. I am extremely committed to my youth athletes & given the time commitment to properly support a Youth Athlete I only take on a select few. Below are the details of in person coaching on offer for youth athletes, for remote coaching please reach out directly.
Youth Assessment Sessions
Youth Assessment Sessions are an in person private coaching session to allow me to ascertain if I am able to take on your child as their coach.
This session includes;
- In person coaching; correcting form errors, teaching technical skills and fixing gaps in their knowledge with take aways for your child to practice.
- Assessment for suitability to join the High Performance Team or Under 13 coaching sessions
- Advice for parents on pathways for your child, coaching and training recommendations and answering any questions about Competition Climbing.
- Recommendations for alternative coaching if I cannot take on your child
Ages 13+ High Performance Team
I believe a team environment is hugely important for Youth Athletes, particularly in their teenage years.
This high performance team involves;
- 2 x 2 hour training sessions together weekly at Urban Climb Blackburn on Wednesdays and alternative locations on Saturdays
- Custom training program delivered on Sequence
- Round the clock support via a group chat with the entire team and parents
- Regular team bonding sessions/activities outside of training
Under 13s
For my younger youth athletes quality time with their coach is extremely important as these athletes require dedicated tutelage to refine their technical skills and build a strong foundation. Under the age of 13 youth athletes require far more supervision and for rope sessions cannot belay each other. It is for this reason that I only coach under 13s in a maximum group size of 4 for boulder and 3 for rope climbing.
